"The Confident Woman Devotional - 365 Daily Inspirations" day 1 & 2
I love starting things fresh. 2014 will be the year I get closer to the God I claim to know and love, but really build a relationship with Him this year by digging deeper into His word. It's been so easy for me to say that I was busy, but a lot of it is because I just didn't know where to start. I didn't grow up in the church, so while the other kids may have grown up with bible stories, I've felt like I've been playing catch up my whole life. I decided to look up on Amazon a devotional specifically for women. I saw that Joyce Meyer had many, but The Confident Woman had lots of great reviews. I've read that she's charismatic, and although I have a conservative Presbyterian foundation, I just care that I am being reminded of Jesus' love and that I am to be made confident in Christ. I received the book a little after the New Year so I played catch up by doing 2 days in one - the devotional is well put together and isn't overwhelming so if any of you wanted to join me a little later, catching up shouldn't be a problem.
The Confident Woman Devotional: 365 Daily Inspirations
I've made it a point to do my devotional through my blog because I also want to be kept accountable on keeping up with this promise I've made with not just God but to myself. To finish what I've started is one of the greatest feelings that a lot of us don't get to really experience in this day and age where we get bored of things easily or move onto the next fad. I don't want my faith to be a weak thing. I hope this can encourage some of you as well.
Day 1
In the fourth watching [between 3:00-6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright. But instantly He spoke to them saying, Take courage. I AM. Stop being afraid! - Matthew 14:25-27
We're all afraid of something - I tend to be one of those people who are fearful of failure or disappointing others. Don't start, and you won't have to say you didn't finish! Don't promise, and you won't have to let others down. But I have to take that leap of faith and get in the water with Jesus just like Peter did. GOD IS.. so why not let all that fear go? It's so funny how we don't think about our lack of courage. The cowardly lion is all of us.
Day 2
And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it's You, command me to come to You on the water. - Matthew 14:28
When I get something I've verbally said out loud I joke "ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE, YA'LL" but it's true.. God even says so. Maybe it's our fear of not hearing God answer our prayers but something I am asking God is to really command to me what He wants for me to pursue in this life. He's taken me on journeys all over the world but I have a huge feeling He isn't through with me yet. We call to God but are we ready for His answers? Time for me to prepare.
